Mirepoix

With a wedding, fall festival, and a bday party this weekend, there’s no shortage of activities. I love weekends like this where I don’t have to think about planning anything – all the hard work is done for me. Knowing the weekend will be busy, I’ve been decidedly low-key this week. I’ve been watching cozy things, doing my laundry on time, and digging into a new book.

A dilapidated corner building in our neighborhood was recently demolished to make way for something new. When it came down was very cool to see the painted brick on the side of the adjacent building that was previously not visible due to how close buildings are scrunched together here.

With Albert away all weekend, it was just me and V and we had a great time traipsing around the city. We spent 2.5 hours at the library on Saturday before hitting up Zabar’s – his request – so we could build a snackie plate. I thought that would be his highlight…but that title was usurped by a very rainy Sunday because it meant he got to spend three hours at Dave & Busters.

I was freaking out a little because I couldn’t find my lucky undies for the game on Saturday. (Don’t worry, I found them this morning – turns out I accidentally made the bed with them inside.) In their absence, I had to call upon my other superstition: my lucky drink. I’ve had great success when watching a UGA game at home if I’m drinking a dirty tini with blue cheese olives, especially if I’ve stuffed them myself. Once again, it worked and the Dawgs pulled out a W.
